I was so happy, she was here in the last week of April and stayed until
last Saturday. So I thought I will write in this chapter about the nice time I
had with my mother.
So two weeks ago on the Saturday I was so happy but at the same time so
nervous and couldn‘t believe that I am sitting in the taxi and will pick up my
mother from the airport. So after I picked up my mother from the airport, first
we just sat down and talked about everything. It was so delusional that I could
talk to my mother face to face.. But ok after we just talked in the airport, we
drove to our hotel in Tbilisi. I guess the whole time from the airport to the
hotel my mother and me just yapped about everything and if there was a break
she just looked out of the window and took in everything she could.
We had a small Christmas celebration when we arrived in the hotel, where
I got a lot of nice socks and new shoes :).
And then we finally start our vacation together! I still had to pack my
bag, so we drove to Rustavi and I showed her my apartment for the first time.
After that we were really hungry so we went to Praha together. I practiced a
bit my Georgian which was not that good but it worked. In Praha I ordered
Khinkali for both of us plus the typical tomato cucumber salad.
And my mother loved it. I guess she was a fan of Georgia already when we
left the airport together.
The next day, I showed her the whole of Tbilisi. We lived quite near the Rustaveli metro station, so we went from there to almost everything. I showed her the old city, the liberty square, the Rike Park and we walked over the liberty bridge. I guess I spent almost the whole morning and noon showing her everything. When we came back to the hotel we were so tired that we just went to bed and slept.
And then I thought maybe I can show her something else except Tbilisi and Rustavi, so we made the plan to go to Mtskheta on Monday. And the start was already chaotic. I guess we searched for the Matrschutka, which is driving to Mtskheta, 20 minutes or something like this. But with a lot of help from nice Georgians and the patience of my mother we finally found the bus and drove to Mtskheta. There I showed her the center, we went to the Samtarowo monastery and visited the small park around it. After we had a small salad and a coffee I thought we could also drive up to the nice monastery with a really cool view from up there. So we also did this. We used a taxi to drive up to the Jvari monastery and the funny thing was that the same taxi driver drove us back down also.
In the evening I got a message from Vibeke from one of my roommates. Her idea was to meet up with our families cause her parents and siblings visited her during the same time as my mother visited me. So we went back to Rustavi and met Vibeke and her family. It was really nice, sometimes it was a bit difficult because my mother doesn‘t speak English that fluently but it worked somehow. So we had a nice evening which ended really fast in sleeping in the hotel again.
On Tuesday it was so rainy that we decided to try out these bathhouses near the old town. So we went in the morning to the old town and went to the bath house nr. 5. It was so interesting and weird for us at the same time.
First we just relaxed in the two different baths and then at one point there came an older lady in our room and started to clean this bench in the other part of the room. First we thought she was just a cleaning lady but she was the woman who did the Kisi for us. I have to say it was really really nice but a bit weird also. I didn‘t expect that I would have to fully undress for the Kisi but I had to. After that, she started Kisi and it was great. She scrubbed my whole body and after that she used shampoo to clean my body and gave me a massage. When I was done my mother did it. I just relaxed for the last half an hour and also used the sauna. So all in all, Tuesday was just a chilling day.
On Wednesday I showed her Rustavi so it was again a bit exhausting. But I also tried to show her everything. Like the scout center, the Rustavi park, our apartment again and some other places. She really liked it. We could meet Krista, another roommate from me and Lia, my coordinator also.
As we had already seen the whole of Tbilisi, we decided to see the things we hadn't seen before on Thursday. So we took the cable car to the mother of Georgia. After that it was more a shopping day, I showed her the bazaar at the Station Square in Tbilisi and after that we just
took a long walk.
And then it was already Friday, our last day from the short vacation. I asked my mother if she wants to see the chronicles of Georgia and she agreed, so we went to
the chronicles. It was again really nice, the weather was not the best but still we had a nice last day.
And so Friday passed and I had to take my mother to the airport the next morning. But it was a really really nice week and I enjoyed it so much. Ok guys, that was it for this time. I hope you enjoyed reading it and if you wanna know more about what I am doing here stay tuned.
