October turned out to be one of the most exciting months of my volunteering journey so far. It was packed with new experiences, breathtaking views, and so many little moments that made me appreciate being here even more. Looking back now, I can definitely say that this month felt like a mix of adventure, connection, and discovery — both about Georgia and about myself.
The Youth Exchange: A Highlight of the Month
The most memorable part of October was definitely the youth exchange. It brought together French and Georgian participants, and I had the chance to be one of the leaders. It was such a fun and rewarding experience to help around with the project — organizing, guiding, and just being part of this amazing energy that came with having so many young people together.
We traveled to some truly beautiful places in Georgia. The scenery was stunning — mountains covered in shades of autumn, small villages tucked between green valleys, and that fresh, clean air that instantly makes you feel alive.
One of the best parts was when we went rafting. I still remember the rush of the water and how calm everything felt at the same time — surrounded by nature, with the sound of the river echoing through the mountains. It was absolutely beautiful, and everyone was so full of energy and laughter.
Exploring Georgian Culture (and Food!)
Of course, no Georgian adventure is complete without food. Even though I’ve already tried a lot of Georgian dishes before, this month I got to enjoy them again — and maybe love them even more. On two of the excursion days, we had proper feasts: delicious khachapuri, khinkali, and other traditional dishes that made everyone so happy (and so full!).
Sharing those meals with both the Georgian and French participants made it even more special. There’s something about sitting around a table after a long, adventure-filled day — tired but smiling, talking about everything and nothing, and feeling this sense of connection across languages and cultures.
New Volunteers, New Friendships
October also brought new volunteers! Two French girls — Lisa and Mao — joined us, and it’s been really nice getting to know them. There’s always something refreshing about having new people around; it brings new stories, new jokes, and a new kind of energy to the group.
We’ve been hanging out, exploring a bit together, and just enjoying this mix of people and cultures that makes the volunteering experience so unique.
Wrapping Up the Month
When I look back at October, it feels like it was gone in a flash, but it was full of meaning. Between the youth exchange, the trips, the rafting, the food, and the new friendships, there was hardly a quiet moment — but that’s exactly what made it so great.
Every time I think about the mountains we visited, or the laughter during the rafting trip, or the smell of freshly baked khachapuri, I feel so grateful to be part of this experience.
’m already curious (and excited!) to see what November will bring — but I have a feeling it will have a hard time topping this October.
