February was an April and March was a February. I don't know if it's climate change or just Georgia, but this month I'm pretty sure I forgot the color of the sky and the warm of the sun on my face. Neverltheless, we are not made of sugar so it was a month full of activity!
And quite the activities. Very different from each other: in the throes of an existential crisis caused by absolute nothingness, I went to Kutaisi to do some healthy solo urbex to the sanitarium in Tskaltubo.
To be honest, as a volunteer I have lived in the past in worst places than this
Result? It was freezing cold, it was raining, I had either no umbrella nor the right clothes and I was happy. On the other hand, I found myself pretending to be a classy person by going to the theater twice: for an opera and a ballet. While the first is not my thing, the second definitely fascinated me and I would certainly like to go back. Inga, lesssgo!
But it was also a month of new meetings: we have been in a hotel in Lagodekhi for the Arrival Training of the ESC.
The people
While I was expecting something more like a training, the activities were perfect as a teambuilding, creating connections with people. And what the people! A great mixture of people with the ability to lead and organize, but at the same time outside the activities able to have fun. With them I am still in touch, some volunteers in Tbilisi and it's easier to meet, some in Armenia or Azerbaijan or Moldova, but who knows? Maybe we'll meet again. With these amazing conditions, we decide for a 5 hours hike to a waterfall in the reserve next to the hotel at 6 am under the rain with no light. This time, no people were left behind.
While I still feel wet from how much rain we took, it was a great hike. The other random meeting of new friends was me in a street crowded of people walking on a foot of a girl, getting insulted in Italian, started talking with the girl, discovering she's a volunteer also, started talking with her friends volunteers as well and went playing funkyball all together in a park. Then I was gently hosted on the couch of one of this person so the day after I was able to smoothly go watching the marathon of the extended version of Lord of the Rings, 12 hours of greatness despite the 2 hours of sleep. Life sometimes is random and good.
Last but not least, with Mao, Lisa and Carl we went for the last sky of the season at the end of the March to Gudauri. First day it was great, beautiful sky, no people (at my question: why is there no people on such a sunny Sunday? the answer from the rental dude was: too many Russians), the second day was, of course, wet. Snow, snow and snow.
In the middle of this adventures, the lazy wet Italian sometimes remembers he has to work, so this months he organized 2 film noons for Caritas. Interestingly, he preferred Luca in Georgian with no English subtitles than Up, in English, just to show how poor his taste in film is. At least it was not raining.
